Hulu was founded in 2007—the same year that Netflix added streaming to its business model—but musical chairs amongst its ownership consortium made the service seem a bit schizophrenic. Netflix and Hulu are almost even in terms of the number of "high quality" TV shows they offer. Reelgood Reelgood defined a "high quality" TV show as anything with an 8 or higher on IMDb.
We subscribe to both. Netflix has the advantages of a larger streaming movie selection and zero commercials. However, Hulu has more up-to-date TV shows (episodes shown sometimes even a day after it was on cable), which is helpful.
